Help Fill Our Plane!

Update: We are so thankful that by God’s provision and through your help we were able to fill our plane and even overflow! Thank you all so much for the generous way that you have supported us in our journey to get to Oliver!

We are closing in on 2 months until we will travel to pick up Oliver, and we would love you to partner with us in getting to China to bring him into our family! Between our own funds, an adoption grant from Show Hope, and the financial help from some of you already (both through our t-shirt fundraiser and monetary gifts), we have been blessed to be able to pay for our pre-travel adoption expenses. Thank you so much to everyone who has already helped us out financially and also to everyone who has been praying for us, thinking about us, and asking us about Oliver and the whole adoption story.

Our next step is for us to get our family to China and pay the in-country expenses and fees, which is a rather large chunk of money. After hearing stories about scared children being pulled out of the orphanages they have know their entire lives bounce from tears of sadness and fear to tears of joy and laughter when they meet first and play with their new siblings, we have decided that it is important for our family that our other three children join us on this trip. We also believe that is is quite important for them to see, know, and understand the country and the orphanage from which their brother has originated. This does, however, mean that everything will cost more.

Through the month of January, we are launching a fundraiser to enlist the support of you all to help us fill our airplane by buying a seat. There are 360 seats on our plane below and each seat is $25. You can buy your seat through a tax-deductible contribution on our Adopt Together page, or by giving us a check or cash in person. We would love to see as many of those seats filled as possible with as many different people from around our lives and beyond. And filling all of the seats will give us the money we need to get us and our kids to China to pick up our son and their brother.

Because we have to wire the money to China and purchase plane tickets ahead of time, our goal is to collect all funds by Friday, February 1st, which gives us just over two weeks.

We plan to post nightly updates as our seats fill in and hope to eventually turn the plane and the passenger list into a keepsake for Oliver so he can understand how loved he was from the very beginning.
